I'm here!

I'm still around here - I just haven't been spending much time online (other than when I visit Facebook on my phone), so I have really slacked on blogging and keeping up with what's going on with baby Denver each week.

Things are well around the Fountain house. We're ready for summer! Not that, that means much to us since we both work but it does mean that we're that much closer to Denver's arrival, and we like to grill out and get in the pool - so we're looking forward to those types of things.

D and I have been spending a lot more time together, since my career change. It's really nice - we haven't been able to see each other this much in a long, long time and we are enjoying every minute of it (hence the lack of blogging).

Denver is doing well. We had our 6 month check up last week. His heartbeat was 153 and he is continuing to grow right on schedule.

Today, I'm 25 weeks pregnant and totally feeling it. I'm swelling pretty badly (which I had done before I got pregnant), but the heat is certainly not doing me any favors! I'm drinking lots and lots of water and trying to keep my feet up when I can. I have my glucose test in the next couple of weeks, which I'm not looking forward to, but am looking forward to getting it over with! The Dr had scheduled us for an ultrasound earlier this month, but didn't get images of everything that he wanted (because Denver wouldn't be still) so we get to see our sweet baby boy again in just a couple of weeks. Our next appointment (and ultrasound) is on the 20th of June and D and I are already counting down the days until we can see him again!

Hope all is well with all of you and you each had a wonderful holiday weekend!

I finally got our Master bedroom all fixed up and pictures in all the frames I had up.

It's actually looking pretty good these days!

Our Sweet Baby Boy!

We had an ultrasound appointment today (it should have happened a couple of weeks ago but there was a miscommunication and we had it today instead). Denver was a VERY active boy today. When we started, he was face down and he showed us his spine and his waved his little arms around for us. Then, he moved around and faced my left side, but not long enough to get a picture. He flipped and faced my right side, but same thing - not long enough to snap anything. Then he rolled around and mooned us and we got a verification that he's all boy! :) He wiggled his little feet at us and kicked mom lots of times. I was jumping and so was the ultrasound lady. It was pretty cool that I could see on screen what I was feeling. He FINALLY settled down some and we were able to get a good picture of him...

Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen? Look at that nose and those pouty little lips. Oh, I can't wait to kiss all over him!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

It's been pretty warm lately, and I have picked back up my addiction to Pop-Ice. Coco always wants me to share with her, but I'm stingy, so what's a girl to do? The other day when I was in the grocery store, I picked up a frozen treat especially for my baby girl. I got home and opened the package and cut it into tiny pieces. D said "Morgan, just give her the container and she'll lick it" and I looked at him like he had three heads and said "Our fat girl? Seriously? She doesn't chew anything - just swallows. What makes you think she'll be any different with this?" And he proceeded to remind me of how cold the treat was, as I continued to cut it into little pieces. I put it on a paper plate and put it down for Coco, who approached the plate cautiously and then dove right in!
Sometimes we have treats before dinner - just because we can! :) She enjoyed hers!
This is what I had given her. It was so hard coming out of that package that I had to use a steak knife to cut it into little pieces. Rest assured, Coco gobbled it up. She didn't lick anything but the plate after she was done!
Then she ran into the living room, climbed up in my lap and shivered for the next 30 minutes!
If your pooches haven't had this, you really should stop and get them some! It's made for dogs, and our little one loves it! You can find it by the people ice cream in most grocery stores. :)

Changes!

There is an old country song, that Guy Clark sang called "The Cape" that I think of often. The chorus goes...

"He's one of those that knows that life Is just a leap of faith Spread your arms and hold your breath And always trust your cape"

I try to remind myself that you can't plan everything, you can't plan for everything and sometimes, despite my control issues, you have to let go and let life happen.

D and I have been through a lot in the time since we got engaged. We've moved 3 times, he sold a business, we both got new jobs, my dad died, we got married, we lost his grandmother, he got laid off, he moved 4 hours away to work while looking for a new job then came back and got re-hired all while I stayed in our house continuing to work, we struggled with infertility, Coco got attacked by a Coyote, we lost two pregnancies, and now we're finally expecting our first baby.

That's a lot of life changing, stressful, emotional events in the last five years. And the only thing that I keep thinking is "we got through it". It wasn't always easy and it sure as hell wasn't always fun, but we made it. We came out on the other side with our heads held high and became stronger people and a stronger couple because of it.

So, when I thought of leaving my job and taking a new job, closer to home with a lot less stress (which I am in dire need of right now). We weren't sure how money would be an issue, but we knew it would be somehow. We didn't know about security or longevity or any of those things, but the one thing that kept coming back to us and eventually made our decision for us was that we'd figure it out. We'd get through it - just like we have time and time again!

So, I tightened my cape and took a leap of faith and two weeks ago yesterday, I gave my two weeks notice to a company I had been with for 5 years. That I had been through a lot with. I was anxious and nervous and for a few fleeting moments, I second guessed my decision but I stuck with it. It was emotional and stressful but for the first time in my adult life I made a decision based on what would make me happy and didn't give a lot of thought to the logistics of it. And I don't know if I've ever been happier.

So, D and I both know that we have a lot of changes to make. Our lifestyle will have to change, our spending habits will have to change but we are actually looking forward to it. We know that we vomit money on unneccessary things more than we need to and hopefully this new change in our lives will bring about some extra financial responsibility.

Regardless of what happens, we know that we'll get through it - together!

Wish us luck - this ought to be fun!

21 Weeks

This week:
Denver gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing & digesting. And these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. We had an appointment last week to check on baby D, and he was doing very well! Growing according to schedule and so is my belly! I've only gained 2 pounds since conception (I've really been trying to watch it), and we get to go back next week for an ultrasound (the Dr. had to rush out to deliver a baby last time). Can't wait to see our sweet baby boy again!

A Mover & A Shaker!

Guess what I felt for the very first time tonight? That's right Baby Fountain! I had been waiting for this moment for a long time! Everyone kept asking me if I had felt him yet and I was so upset everytime I had to say "no, not yet". My Dr. asked me last week if I had felt him and same thing - "no, not yet". He assured me that I would sometime soon.

Of course, as a first time mom - I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to be feeling, but I think it's one of those things you just know. As soon as I felt him move, I just knew that it was him.

D and I were in the living room watching tv before he headed off to work. It's our evening ritual. Anyhow, Coco jumped up in my lap to lay down, which is her evening ritual. She landed just right on my tummy, and Denver must have felt the pressure because that's what started it!

The best way that I can describe it is to think of a fish flopping back and forth on the dock, once they are out of water. That's what it felt like - like he was flopping back and forth! It only lasted about a minute, but I am the happiest mommy in the world!
