A "Great" Visit

Today, my sister and I took Marleigh and Denver to meet two of their Great Aunts and a Great Uncle.

Denver fell asleep on the drive there and was a little startled when he woke up so he cried for a bit when we first got there but after 5 minutes or so he calmed down and was excited about checking out a new place and new faces.

He's very interested in seeing new things these days. He will lean and stretch and bend his little body to get a better view if he's trying to check something out.

It's so cute and sounds a lot like his mama, if I'm being completely honest. :)

Uncle Harry was so smitten with Marleigh! Denver sat with Aunt Carolyn for a long while, and Aunt Barbara shuffled between both of them to visit.

He stated at her forever, just checking her out!

After an hour or so we moved to the kitchen and visited while Aunt Carolyn fixed some lunch.

We could have left those babies with Uncle Harry all day - he was so in love!

My sweet boy just stared and stated at him!

Then, they were best buddies and spent most of the rest of the day together while us girls visited in the kitchen.

All in all, it was a great day and a great visit!

Silly Little Boy

Denver's personality is really emerging and it is SO fun to see him develop into this little person.

He is always so happy (unless he doesn't feel well), he is all smiles all the time and I am so glad. That little smile just warms my heart.

Someone hasn't yet figured out that he cant push himself back, without repercussions, now that we don't hold him up.

He'll learn soon enough. Until then, when he is playing, I put stuffed animals behind him to soften his fall.

He decided that it was pretty comfy laying on them.

And then decided it was just as fun to lay down and play with them!

This little boy makes me laugh.

And again - tired after all that playing. This picture makes me laugh - he's got Mr. Owl in a headlock!

Smart Phone Smart Kid

I have to admit, I'm almost always attached to my phone. I log onto Facebook and Pinterest multiple times a day from my phone, I text friends throughout the day, I take all my pictures of Denver on my phone - I even write this blog from my phone (most of the time) so it's no small wonder that Denver has seen me on my phone quiet a bit. Guess who's already picking up the habit?
Last night, on the way home from our outing, Denver (who hadn't napped all day) had a complete breakdown and started screaming. Everything I tried wouldn't calm him down so I opened up a Fisher Price app that I had downloaded on my phone to entertain him while we were in the hospital. As soon as he saw it, he stopped crying/screaming. He LOVES it. It has baby animals on it and they make noises and sing to him. That with the bright colors keeps him pacified for a good while. Unfortunately, when he got good and calmed down - my phone died and when the screen went black he totally wigged out. Thankfully, while he was looking at my phone, I was downloading the same app on D's phone so I just opened his and he was able to watch it on there.
It was so adorable to see him holding my phone, watching so intently.
Isn't that adorable?

Eating Out

We were determined to get out of the house, as a family today so we got our stuff together shortly after lunch time and Denver's morning nap and headed out for a late lunch. We got a highchair and decided that we'd let Denver try that for the first time.
He was very interested in trying to eat the menu!
And trying to get ahold of my silverware, menu, keys, phone, etc.
I just love, love, love this picture. He looks like such a big boy which makes me sad that he's growing so fast but I think it really shows his personality emerging. He was ready to eat, just as soon as we sat down!
We let him have a little queso - he was a HUGE fan!
After lunch, we headed to the bookstore to pick up his St. Patrick's Day books and go ahead and get his Earth Day book and his Easter books. While Dad looked at books, Denver and I sat down and read one of the books we picked out for him. We made more stops at The Container Store, Wal-Mart, Target and then finally home. It was a long (but good day) and nice to get out of the house all together.

Teething Sucks!

Well, fussiness and gum pain was back today unfortunately but thankfully, it didn't last all day long like it did earlier this week. In totally exciting news.... DENVER IS SITTING UP ON HIS OWN! If you sit him up, he can now sit up on his own. He is occasionally a little wobbly but 90% of the time he can sit by himself just fine. I was working at hanging some of his clothes up in his closet while Denver played in his bed. I turned around to check on him and this is what I saw:
Isn't this sweet. He was playing with a bear he received while he was in the hospital.
Teething and in need of a nap made us a little cranky a few times, but for the most part - today was a good day!
Cute onesie, huh?
And playing some more. Such a sweet boy!

Happy Baby!

Denver was SO much happier today and didn't seem to be having a lot of gum pain. He was ALL smiles ALL day. It was such a nice change from yesterday. I was so glad that my boy was so happy today.
Look at this sweet smile. I saw it all day long!
And by the way... he is literally DAYS away from sitting on his own.
Denver and Coco have been paying more and more attention to each other lately. It's so cute to see them together. Such sweet babies!

Exhausted!

I'm not going to lie. I am completely and utterly exhausted today. Like counting down the time until nap time so that I can sit for a few minutes, grab a Dr Pepper and hopefully take a breather kind of exhausted. Denver is still having teething issues (and still no teeth in sight) and today was one of those fussy all day, can't get comfortable, not content with anything, I don't know what I want but I don't want this kind of days. We spent ALL day going all around the house doing everything that I could think of. Denver would be content for about 15 minutes at each "station" before we would have to get up and move to the next one.
We played in his bed on his tummy until he got upset, then we rolled over to our back until he got upset, then we sat up and played until he got upset (see the pattern). Then we moved down to our play mat on our tummy, then rolled over to our back. He seemed to like that ok for a bit. He had happy spurts in between all the fussy times and that made my day totally worthwhile. He is such a sweetheart.
I put him in his walker and he liked that longer than anything else during the day. He played for about half an hour during lunch time and then another half hour while I cooked dinner. He rolled all over the kitchen but such a smart boy - never got near the stove and never ran into me. :)
We sat on a blanket on the floor for awhile and then we moved onto the couch and he decided that the blanket was pretty tasty.
Finally, right before bathtime, he got over the fussy thing and was all smiles. His little onesie says "Mommy's Little Alarm Clock" and it couldn't be more true! We're hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Sittin' Tall

Today I had to run to Wal-Mart so I loaded Denver up and we headed that way. When we got there, I told him that I would let him sit in the basket like a big boy, instead of in his carseat.
This is what I got in response. I think he was happy about that!
He was SO excited to be sitting in the basket. He smiled pretty much the whole time. He loved every minute of it! He even helped me hold some stuff.
Being a big boy must be very tiring because he slept the whole way home, and stayed asleep when I took him out of the car and unloaded all of the groceries.

Spaghetti Spaghetti Squash Dinner

I've been trying more Pinterest recipes and have been really happy with some of the new ones.

I've told a few people about this one and thought I'd share it for those of you not on Pinterest.

Start with your oven on 350 degrees. Cut a Spaghetti squash in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds - just like cleaning out the inside of a pumpkin. You want it good and clean. Then drizzle it with a little olive oil and bake (cut side down) for 35-40 minutes.

When you take it out of the oven, turn your oven up to 400 degrees.

This is what your squash will look like. Just scrape your fork across it to break it up.

This is what it starts looking like.

Then add your favorite spaghetti sauce and season with your favorite seasonings.

Top with meatballs (I used de-frosted frozen pre-made meatballs) and mozzarella cheese.

Slide it in the oven for 15 minutes.

And this is what it looks like when you get it out of the oven. It smells so good!!!

And this is what I fixed D for dinner. There was no way he could finish it all but he tried. He said it was his favorite way that I've prepared spaghetti squash and requested that I make it again!

Hope you make it & enjoy!

Technical Difficulties

Today was a pretty uneventful day for Denver and I but we did work on him trying to feed himself.
Isn't this onesie adorable?
He's a little stinker when it comes to holding his bottle. He will hold it for a little while, then he just starts playing with it. The problem most of the time is that he will hold it, but won't lift it up so that the milk actually moves down into the nipple. He has a few technical difficulties.
And his other problem is that instead of moving the bottle to him, he holds the bottle and tries to move his mouth to it. It's actually quite funny to watch.
Getting closer!
This makes me laugh.

All that work trying to feed himself is very tiring!

And then when he's well rested, he likes being propped up on the couch to play with his toys.

An Orange Day

Today has been a pretty lazy, around the house kind of day.

Denver took a couple of really good naps and snuggled with his owl.

He's recently started sucking on his fingers. He was watching his daddy here.

Daddy set him down to eat some carrots. Denver wasn't very happy with how long daddy was taking to feed him.

Daddy and I switched places so mommy could feed him. He's recently started flapping his arms and he flapped them down on the bowl of carrots I was holding and we had a bit of a situation.

The situation covered mommy's shirt, pants, the couch, the boppy, his feet, leg, hand, forehead and face!

At least he looks good in orange, right?
