There She Blows

Last week, we got a little rain (thank goodness). But I mean very little rain - maybe 45 minutes. But, the wind got so crazy it was a little scary. We heard that hail came down just a couple of miles from us. We had a tree in the front yard that was uprooted. Thankfully, no one or no cars were hurt when it came up out of the ground. As much as we hated to see it destroyed - D was so excited that he'd have an excuse to get his chainsaw out.

This is him getting started cutting it down. You can see it wasn't a huge tree but it wasn't a twig either. I just couldn't believe it came out of the ground.

Can you see D's little helper? One word - nosey! :) The good thing that came out of it - D will be able to use the pecan wood to BBQ with. That made him almost as excited as getting to use the chainsaw!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy (Expectant) Father's Day to my sweet husband! I hope you have a wonderful day! I can't wait for our baby boy to arrive so that I can see you two together - I know that you will be an amazing father! :)

On another note, I ordered something really cute for D for Father's Day, that he can wear when we go to the hospital...

I found it online at Daddy Scrubs and thought it would be a nice little gift for him. I want him to get noticed too - I know too often Daddy's get left out.

Hope all the other Father's out there have enjoyed their day!

Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary!

I can't believe we've been married for 3 years today. Sometimes it seems like an eternity, and sometimes it seems like just yesterday.

I know more than ever, that I married the person that God made for me. I have always believed in soul mates and I know that you are mine. We've been through a lot in our short marriage - especially this year and when things got all dark and gloomy - we were brought closer together and our marriage became stronger. I know that we can get through anything together - we're an amazing team.

You are an amazing person and a wonderful husband. We have our fair share of issues, but there is no one that I would rather have them with. Even when you do something and I'm so mad at you - I can't help but think of all the ways that you are sweet to me and make my life easier - just because you love me.

You are my rock, my safe place, my secret keeper and my very best friend. I can't wait to talk to you every morning and love getting to kiss you goodnight. I'm thankful for all of the blessings in our life and getting to share each of them with you - it makes all of them that much better.

I love you more and more every single day. And I know it sounds so cheezy but I sometimes wonder if my heart can hold any more love for you, because its already so full. I love you more than words can ever express and I'm honored to be your wife.
Happy Anniversary my love!

Tell Me About It Tuesday - My Spouse

In high school and in college I had a couple of serious/long-term relationships but most of them were casual and low-key. After one break up in college, I decided to take some time to be single for awhile. After about 8 months, I decided that I didn't want to be single any more but knew that I wasn't going to meet my husband at school, or at a bar, or at church or through a friend - I had gone down all of those roads and none of them swept me off my feet. Then I tried eHarmony and I met Darren in July of 2005. We were wonderful matches online, we hit if off well fairly quickly, were attracked to each other and enjoyed talking - things seemed good. So we talked and talked and talked some more. And when we got through talking, we talked some more. We wound up talking for well over two months before we ever met in person. Then we met and he was cute and he was sweet and he was quiet. VERY, Very quiet. And it totally turned me off. Like, I didn't want to see him again. Ever. So, we hugged goodbye and he told me he would call me. And he did. Because that's the kind of guy he is. And I made an excuse to get off the phone and promised that I would call him on Monday. Because that's the type of girl I USED to be. I know, I know. I called him on Monday and went into this big rehearsed speech about how it wasn't anything with him, I just didn't think that it would work out and he deserved to be with someone who wanted to be with him as much as he wanted to be with her and on and on. And all he heard was "I don't ever want to go out with you again". So naturally, that didn't go well and he cut off all contact with me. Completely. And then the guilt sank in. And when I got over the guilt, the regret came. And it never left. And then came on this longing and this need to talk to him that I had never had with anyone else. I didn't want to talk to him, I NEEDED to talked to him. I missed him terribly and didn't want to admit it. Then, everyone and I do mean everyone started giving me a hard time about it and that I shouldn't judge everything by just one date. A first date is almost always weird. It might go well but there is still that unfamiliarity that you go through that makes it a little off so they urged me to give him another shot. So I did, and I hoped that he would accept my apology and agree to go out again. And I got lucky. Because he not only answered my call, but was happy to hear from me. And without me having to go into this long, apology - he told me that he'd missed me and that he hoped I would have reconsidered. And I did and I can honestly say that it is the single best decision I have ever made. We went out on a second date and since we lived 4 hours away and he was coming all the way to me (he didn't even make me meet him half way) - he met my nearest and dearest friends, my sorority sisters and my family. On our second date! And you know what - he was wonderful. They all loved him and he loved them back. And a few days later he sent me this huge arrangement of yellow and red roses - saying that he had a wonderful time with me and couldn't wait to see me again.

Our 3rd date at the Texas Renaissance Festival And I knew. I knew that he accepted me for me. That it was okay if I made bad decisions and it was ok if I did things I regretted or was indecisive - that he knew that was me and he was okay with it. He didn't necessarily agree, but he accepted it.

It didn't take long for us to fall crazy in love. For Christmas, he gave me a promise ring and in June of 2006 he moved to Houston to be with me. He proposed on November 17, 2006 and we were married on November 17, 2007 and we've been happy and crazy about each other (almost) every day since then.

Our wedding day was the best day of my life!
He allows me to pick out his clothes when we go places so that we can "coordinate" in case there are any pictures involved. He's a good friend.

He always drives to that I can read or take a nap. He dances with me, even though he hates to dance - just because I love to.

He's a good kisser.

He loves kids.

And they love him.

He's helpful.

He's sweet and loving.

He loves animals.
He's easy going and fun to hang out with. He's a caregiver.
He's an instigator!

He makes the weirdest faces in pictures that I love and hate all at the same time.

He loves the outdoors and appreciates the beauty around him in everyday life.

He's handy.

He loves guns and any excuse to shoot one!

He loves to fish - even if the fish are too small to keep.

He loves history and "old" stuff.

He loves to take pictures, and he's good at it.

He spoils Coco!

He's a good "daddy".

He has a sense of humor.

And he's my very best friend. We will celeberate 3 years of marriage next month and I couldn't be happier. I hope that we are both around long enough to celebrate 50 or 60 years together.
Can't wait to hear about your spouses/significant others and I hope you'll join us next Tuesday and tell us all about your kids!

Happy 29th Birthday Darren!

Darren,

Happy Birthday sweetheart! I hope that you have a wonderful day - you deserve only the best. You are such an amazing husband and I am so lucky to have you in my life. I am grateful for all of the time that we have had together, all of the memories that we have made and all that our future's hold.

Sometimes, when we're watching tv and I look over at you or when I'm laying awake in bed, I can't help but think of how incredibly luck I am to be married to you, and how many things I love about you.

In honor of your 29th birthday, I wrote a few of them (or 29) down...

1. I love your laugh. I love that it's goofy and loud and that when you think something is funny, you don't wait for everyone to laugh - you just let go and laugh with everything you have - even if that means clapping your hands and stomping your feet.

2. I love how handy you are. I love that I can dream up all kinds of things for "us" to do and you can do them for me.

3. I love that you hold my hand when we sleep.

4. I love that you are not all macho and controlling of the remote and that you let me take possession of it and decide what we watch.

5. I love that you know how completely neurotic I am (about everything), but you act like it's completely normal.

6. I love that you are who you are and you don't pretend to be anything you're not.

7. I love that you are a hard worker and are motivated and will do whatever you have to do to provide for our family.

8. I love that you adore Coco as much as I do and by all accounts, she is your "little girl".

9. I love how protective you are.

10.I love that you kiss me and say "goodnight sweetheart, sleep good" before bed every night.

11.I love how your dad is your hero.

12.I love that when you tell me that you love me and I say "I love you more", you say "nope".

13.I love, love, love when you're freshly shaven - how smooth and soft your face is and how I can't help but kiss all over you and you just smile.

14.I love how everytime you cook, you get out every single spice that we have in our pantry and attempt to make a "special concoction".

15.I love that you let me talk you in to just about anything.

16.I love that you get into Lifetime movies just as much as I do!

17.I love how proud you are of your heritage and where you came from.

18.I love how children absolutely love you. I have never seen children so drawn to a person as they are to you and I love how you are on Cloud 9 when you are around them.

19. I love that you've had the same best friend since you were younger and how regardless of the fact that you don't see each other often, every time you get together you just pick up where you left off.

20.I love that you know how much I hate running errands (like going to the bank) and you do it for me.

21.I love that you're tough on the outside but tender on the inside.

22. I love that when we look at each other across a crowded room, everyone else disappears and we only see each other.

23. I love that you want to experience everything together and that you're as excited (if not more) than I am to have children and start a family.

24.I love that we can be silly together and that we have the stupidest inside jokes and how much fun we have re-telling them over and over to each other.

25.I love the way that you make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world.

26.I love that I can have an absolute blast with you - regardless of what we do, even if its nothing at all.

27.I love how everything turns into an adventure when I'm with you.

28.I love how close you are with your parents and that you talk to your mom everyday.

29.And more than anything, I love that you love me and that you "chose me" and that I get to spend the rest of my life with you.

I love everything about you! Happy Birthday my love! I hope it's a great one and that the next year brings much happiness, success and good health! I can't wait to experience it all with you!
