We traveled to Center, TX last weekend to see D's family and to have our maternity pictures taken by a dear friend of ours Amanda of Matthews Photography. Here are a few sneak peaks that she sent us:

Painted Wine Glass

Since I have some time on my hands, I have decided to make a few things before Denver gets here. Mainly for him, but I did want to throw in something for me!

I decided that I would paint a wine glass and use it to hold my ice at the hospital. Then, I got to worrying about the glass so I bought this plastic hurricane style glass at Hobby Lobby for $2.50 instead. I picked up some "It's a Boy" ribbon and a few paint pens (I was trying to make this easy on myself instead of getting glass paint and all that jazz).

I was worried that my hand wasn't steady enough to decorate all over the glass without making it look insane, getting upset and then having to start over with a new glass. So, I got out my silhouette machine and cut out some vinyl. Instead of using the pieces I cut out, I used the outline of each piece as a stencil.

Placing all of the stencils was a little time consuming, but I figured the effort would be worth it in the end.

Then, I got out my paint pens and away I went. I bought the cheapest paint pens I could get with a fine tip. They are made by Tree House Studio and I purchased them at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 each. Whoever invented paint pens must be rich because the brand I normally buy (and don't pay any attention obviously) are $5 each! Wowza!

Once I got everything painted (two coats) and it dried, I started taking the stencils off. This is the side of the glass. I am in love with the tiny baby feet. I think that's my favorite thing about the glass! This is the back.

And the bottom. I'm sure this has some truth to it! :) And this is the glass all finished with a small bow. I have it all wrapped up and with the rest of the stuff I need to pack to take to the hospital. How cute is it?

32 Weeks!

We had our 8 month check-up yesterday. Everything is going well. My cervix is still high, closed and thick so no dilating or effacing has taken place yet. He has been checking me because they always ask "any spotting or cramping?" and I've been cramping (like menstral cramps) in my lower abdomen and my lower back, so the Dr said he just wanted to make sure!

Pregnancy Highlights: How Far Along: 32 Weeks Size of baby: Head of Lettuce (19" long, 3.9 pounds) Total Weight Gain/Loss: +11 pounds (I was so swollen today so the Dr. thinks all the weight than I have gained in the last week or so is due to water) Maternity Clothes: I was given some hand me downs from a dear friend of mine and I finally wore a maternity shirt (for our maternity pictures this weekend). Gender: It's a boy! Denver Ray Fountain Movement: Denver is starting to run out of room! I feel him turning and twisting more than kicking these days and he has had the hiccups a LOT lately! Sleep: I'm having a hard time getting comfortable, but once asleep I'm sleeping well. What I miss: The occasional glass of wine or margarita! Cravings: Nothing really, but I've been eating a lot of scrambled eggs lately. Symptoms: Sciatica on my right side and numbness in my left arm. Best moment this week: Darren and I meeting with a dear friend of ours to have our maternity pictures taken! Just 8 weeks left to go!

A few recent pictures of our sweet girl...

She never lets an opportunity to take a nap pass her by!

Here she is trying to get me to share my dinner with her (which I do almost every night)! I know I shouldn't but my goodness look at that face. I feel SO guilty if I don't and she knows it! She totally knows how to work me!

This is what I come back to when I get up and go to the bathroom at night. She sleeps on D's side of the bed at night, but she loves to be extra close and she thinks she needs to be on my side. I'm constantly scooting her back to "her" side. When I got up she was on her side, when I came back - she was on my side. Notice how she wouldn't look at me, like that was going to make me not notice that she was on my side! She is such a priss! I had to push her back over to her side and before I could get back in bed, she had gotten up and gotten as far back over as she could. I had pretty much no room! It's hard to get mad when all she is trying to do is snuggle with you! Isn't she the sweetest thing?

Nursery Plate

Last week I had a bit of time before meeting some friends for dinner so I ran into Hobby Lobby to kill some time. I got to looking around and was trying to think of something cute (and cheap) that I could make for Denver's room.

Back in the ceramics section, I found a cute little plate that was originally $3.99, but that was 50% off, and then I found a roll of Owl ribbon that was 50% off .99 cents, so I picked that up as well. Sadly, scrapbooking materials were not on sale, but I picked up some clear stickers nonetheless. My idea was to make a cute little plate to sit on a plate stand on his dresser.

These were my supplies. The ribbon doesn't really fit, so I had to fold it in half to get it to fit through the slots in the plate. I just played around with it until I could see the patterned side instead of the plain side of the ribbon, and then tied a simple bow. This is the sticker up front.

Although it was cute and I got some compliments on it, I decided that I didn't like it so I took the sticker off. And I was left with this. I decided to get my Silhouette machine out and cut something out of vinyl. I am very new to this machine, and I know I did something wrong, but I wound up having to place all of the letters one at a time, by hand, instead of just "rubbing" them off of the adhesive. This process was VERY time consuming. I'm talking about 4 hours worth of time consumption, but I'm on maternity leave so I have a little bit of time on my hands! I would never have spent that much time on a project if it wasn't for my sweet baby boy! :)

I finally got all of the letters placed and the acorns placed, but they were really too big and I had really wanted to put a oak leaf on there too, so I wasn't entirely thrilled.

So, I took the big acorns off and cut out little tiny acorns, but then the bottom looked a little bare.

So, I cut out an oak leaf but then the other side seemed like it needed something.

So I added a leaf to the other side, and liked it. But then someone suggested that I flip one of the leaves so they weren't both facing the same direction and I did. But I didn't really care for it. So, I asked D what he thought. And he liked this one the best. So, this is what we're going with! Now, I just have to go back and get the plate stand that I forgot last trip and then I'll be able to set it on his dresser. You know, when we get his dresser put together! :)

Forest Animal Nursery

D and I wanted nursery bedding that we both liked, but that not every person we know had. Most of our friends have girls and the ones that have boys have done Western themes and I knew for sure that I didn't want that. We originally chose a camping theme (no camo), but it was really hard to find bedding and/or fabric that I liked, so we quickly changed and decided on Forest Animals.

We picked "Tree Top" by Carter's. We both really like it and I love that they are more neutral/Earth tone colors. It goes with the rest of the house and the guest bathroom which is right next to his room.

Darren still has to put this glider together, but we found one that would match pretty much any bedding and the wood is the same color stain as the rest of his furniture.

I think I'm going to take the pillow from the glider and put it in Denver's crib (not to use, just for looks while not in use), and then I bought a little throw pillow for the glider.

This is also made by Carter's but it actually goes to another bedding set. I thought it would be adorable in the glider though.

I asked D's mom to make Denver a blanket, like this one that I could throw over the back of the glider when we weren't using. The cream side is swirled and I asked that she embroider his name on the brown side. I can't wait to see it finished!

I ordered this frame off of etsy.com a month or so ago. I'm planning on putting our first family picture in there. It has the colors and animals from his nursery, but I liked the blue background in case anyone bought him anything that was blue. I thought it would be easier to tie in and it's SO hard finding any trinkets for a boys' room that aren't blue!

I can't wait to make more progress in his room, and really start seeing it come together!

Nursery Furniture

D started putting Denver's nursery furniture together last week. Coco helped the whole time!

I got a ecru terry cloth changing pad cover and put it on and then we had bought him a little white lamb that rattles before we knew he was a he, and I have it up on his table (for now). I have filled a couple of baskets with his bath stuff, and his towels and wash clothes. I have the other baskets on order (they only had 2 in the store). Then, I'll get to organizing the rest of his stuff.

I did get his "coming home" outfit and blanket out and hang it up on the side of his changing table. I need to wash it but I'm still waiting to get a more accurate account of how big he is, just in case we need to return this one and get the size bigger.

D and I decided on this outfit because it is SO soft and sweet and thought a cute, chubby little baby would look adorable in it. And...because it was the very first thing that we bought when we started talking about trying to have a baby - over 2 years ago! It has been folded and put up in a box and has waited a LONG time to get put to use. We can't wait to put it on our baby boy!

And then D got the crib put together. It's a convertible one that goes all the way up to a double bed, and it has a drawer under the crib, where I have all of his blankets washed and folded and ready to wrap up a baby. :) I can't wait to bring him home and let him see his room (he won't actually be using the bed for awhile, I'm going to put him in a cradle next to our bed first).

We still have to get some stuff cleared out of his room (we've been storing extra furniture and stuff in there for the last 2 years), before D can put the dresser and glider together.

But, it's coming together. Slowly, but surely!
